Do What You Want

I've always envied people who I thought had an easy/glamorous life. Such as singers or youtubers. I mean, the singers were probably already good at singing to start with, and you don't have to write your own music. And many youtubers just sit around in their rooms and talk to a camera once in a while. However, I've come to realize that most people, no matter what they do, worked hard for it. I always thought I couldn't major in something "impractical" like Asian Studies or English, but now that I'm taking classes in those subjects, I'm exposed to more and more opportunities every day. I think once you find what you like, you take notice of your opportunities (because they actually interest you), and you realize what's around you. Now things aren't so impossible. When I was in Food Science, I was only exposed to things related to that, and it did nothing to disprove that the things I'm actually interested have opportunities. Now that I'm taking classes in the subjects I have an interest in, I'm invited to events telling me about various opportunities, and they are actually appealing so I want to take them, whereas before I thought "yeah, whatever" about Food Science and Business related things. So, now that you've noticed the opportunities that you want and are available to you, you need to take them. I think they key to being successful is doing what you like and being aggressive in getting to where you want. Things probably won't work out right away, so you need to do things related to or close to what you want to do, and work your way to getting to a place you'd like to be. Sitting around hoping you'll magically become a rock star won't get you anywhere. You need to be honest with yourself about what you like and what you want to do, and then take the steps to achieve your goals, even if you're not completely sure what they are yet. Good luck. Hopefully we'll figure everything out eventually... :)
